Our firm offers three lawyers with a wide range of expertise:
Catherine J. Perry
Catherine was admitted to the Bar of Newfoundland and Labrador in April 1987. Her practice is general in nature, and she has represented both corporations and individuals in many types of matters. Her current areas of practice include wills and estates, real estate, personal injury, litigation, family law, contracts and corporate matters.
When not practicing law, Catherine can be found limping up the ice or minding the net at one of the local hockey arenas or just taking a leisurely stroll with her dogs.
Dave Power
Dave was admitted to the bar in 1987 and his entire career to date has been in private practice. Throughout this time, he has successfully assisted clients at every court level in Newfoundland and Labrador, from the numerous locations of Provincial Court, through the Supreme Court, and the Court of Appeal. Dave has also represented clients in appearances in various administrative boards and tribunals, such as the Canada Pensions Appeal Board, Residential Tenancies Board, and the Appeal Boards relating to Town Council matters.
Dave is quite experienced in assisting clients in the insurance and personal injury areas, and also regularly represents clients in the areas of real estate, family and criminal, as well as wills and estates, and civil litigation.
Evan J. Kipnis
Evan was admitted to the Bar of Newfoundland and Labrador in 1979. Evan practiced law with the St. John’s firm of Chalker, Green & Rowe for 10 years before pursuing a career as legal counsel with Newfoundland Telephone, which is now Bell Aliant. After 23 years in the telecom industry, Evan has returned to private practice in St. John’s. Although Evan was a busy litigator in his first 10 years of private practice, he has always been a general practitioner with a business orientation.
During his time in the telecom industry, Evan advised all levels of leadership of the corporation and was involved in an extensive range of matters, including the most complicated transactions of the corporation over the last 20 years, a period of dramatic industry developments. Consequently, Evan is an experienced and effective commercial negotiator.
Evan’s legal practice has an emphasis on contractual and commercial work, including corporate, labour & employment law, and intellectual property matters. Thanks to his considerable experience as corporate counsel, Evan brings a practical, and cost conscious, business dimension to the practice of law on behalf of his clients.
A long-time volunteer in sports and recreation, Evan enjoys playing sports and teaching youths to enjoy these activities and play better than he ever did.
